Faith and Human Nature
This piece explores the relationship between faith and human nature, emphasizing the importance of compassion, inclusivity, and the complexities of love in understanding God’s nature.
In today’s world, many people discuss and debate their beliefs about God. As someone without formal training, I’ve spent ten years helping homeless people and those with mental health issues. Through these experiences, I’ve learned important lessons about love and humanity that challenge the way we see God’s grace.
The Bible says in 1 John 4:8, “God is love.” This means we should see our lives as part of God’s beautiful creation. People who struggle with mental health show us how love and hope can exist even in tough times. Ephesians 2:10 encourages us to use our kindness and empathy to show God’s work in us.
However, some teachings about faith can make love seem limited and exclusive. Jesus welcomed everyone, especially children (Matthew 19:14), showing that every person matters. This calls us to be inclusive and to reflect God’s heart.
As we seek wisdom, we should recognize the divine spark in everyone, especially those who are suffering. Rather than fitting people into strict categories, we should appreciate the unique challenges and joys of being human. Colossians 3:12-14 tells us to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patient, guiding us to love more fully.
I encourage you to think about how faith and love work together in your life. Let’s not limit God’s amazing love to strict rules, but instead focus on empathy and inclusion. During these difficult times, may we inspire each other to love deeply and show compassion in every action, reflecting the Creator’s image in all we do.
