excellent article! for some time now, i had concluded that while God gives us His Word, which includes instruction in His Way, all religion is manmade. i pray more people will “come out of her” — BOTH “Babylon” AND “man's religions” — in these last days. This is exactly the problem I run into when trying to explain to someone—usually a well-read, biblically literate person— what I believe. They want me to name a system or throw them a one-liner that defines my theology. But what I end up describing is simply the theology of the Bible. No system—just the story through which scripture seems to understand itself. With those who actually want to hear me out, it’s where I usually get the blank stares. With the proud, it’s where I’m laughed out of the room.
You make some decent points throughout this post…..God reveals Himself, yet He is never handed over to be “mastered”, and Holy Scripture does not treat covenant as something we finish. God’s sovereignty does not erase human freedom or transform evil into something willed or justified. Redemption heals what is broken, & it doesn’t excuse injustice. Any theology that blurs that line preserves coherence at the expense of truth.

Surgery went well today. I’m home resting. Throat is sore and I can feel the depth of new disc they replace(some discomfort). I’ve been sleeping all day and tonight. Can’t seem to stay awake. But I haven’t taken in pain medication and voice is horse but still sounds like me. The prayers of the righteous avails much and boy has Prayer been my friend. Thanks for the prayers they worked. I will never forget your acts of kindness to a total stranger. May the blessings of the Lord over take you all and more wisdom, understanding and gifts be trusted in your lives. Love you all and again “thank you!”

This is a good article, Sergio. Once again you took it in an unexpected direction, which is always welcome because I learn more that way.
Your examination of our various -isms brought Genesis 3 to mind. Adam and Eve were given everything they would need to live a perfect life, but they couldn't keep pride from doing what it so often does...convince us that God's providence isn't enough. Fast forward to the first century. Christ's bride has everything necessary to grow and become a beacon in a very dark world. But pride had other ideas. The gifts of the Holy Spirit weren't enough. The scriptures weren't enough. The two simple commands to love God and love neighbor weren't enough. Man started thinking surely there must be something more. We can surely become theologically faster, better, smarter, stronger. Now we sit here more divided than ever. But, doggone it, we feel pretty proud of ourselves.
Talk about irony! The article that comes out tomorrow is exactly about that topic, well interrelated in a little bit different direction of Genesis 3 (par for the course lol). I'm still smiling because of the timing of your comment is perfect! I love it!
Excellent article! I’ve been thinking a lot in the last year how all these systems are images we create of God and C.S. Lewis talks about God being the great iconoclast who can’t be contained by and constantly smashes the false and incomplete images we make of him. When that happens, we either accept the mystery and allow him to present himself as himself or we abandon faith because he isn’t who we thought he is. But I now find myself in a church I think I was led to but requires me to affirm systems I cannot say are absolute truth in good conscience and I’m discerning what to do - please pray for me.
I'll be honest, I've not studied what most of these ‘-isms’ entail. I see lots of people bickering with each other about the isms. If I HAD to classify myself into a category, it'd be “Old School Christian-ism”; things I learned in circa 1970's Sunday school at the Christian Church, I've carried with me and expanded on those beliefs into adulthood through study, salvation & church. I live in a small community, maybe that's it.

Sarah means Princess and she is the Wise Woman that waited for God to bear fruitful thoughts. It was a real struggle and she even laughed at the idea she would bear fruit and multiply but God was faithful while her husband could not wait so he did what was right in his own eyes and took her maid.
